Sports massage is a form of deep tissue massage that is typically used to target specific muscles. When you have a sore muscle, a sports massage which focuses on problem areas is the way to go. It is designed to eliminate pain, iron out muscle knots and relax the muscles so you can recover better.

Sports Massage works by heating up and relaxing the muscles, as well as increasing blood flow to them. Once heated, manual manipulation of muscles increase the space within, and between them amplifying the effects of the increased blood flow. This optimises the blood flow to the muscles.

Optimising your recovery in this way does not just have an immediate effect. The effect of a sports massage directly after exercise and likely at any point following a massage the benefits can be seen up to a week after. Including reduced muscle damage (up to 2 days after the bout of exercise) and less inflammation.

Sports Massage can reduce generic pain and exercise specific Delayed Onset Muscles Soreness (DOMS) by stimulating the nerves and reducing swelling which will apply less pressure in the area further reducing pain.

Ultimately, a sports massage should leave you feeling anything from; looser to lighter or freer. All of which are words we have had describe out services.
